What a joyous season of the year! It even snowed here a little. My dog Maggie was outside using her nose as a shovel for the snow so that was funny … she was running around with the snow on her nose.

The docs are slowly being moved to this wiki and still in progress although this will slow down during the holidays.

Take care if you are driving or flying to family and enjoy the season!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend! I cooked a chicken instead of a turkey this year and had my special dressing and homemade cranberries … wow am I full! I get a brand of chicken that does not have chemicals in it and is only around in certain areas. The brand is called “Smart Chicken” … that chicken wasn’t too smart if he ended up on the table!!! LOL

Anyway, I have started moving the doc information from the knowledgebase to the new wiki confluence site and cleaning it up. The new wiki is really nice because you can type in the “Rich Text” box area and the code is automatically extrapolated into the wiki box. Also the wiki editing is much easier than other wiki sites I have seen. As I understand it the new wiki site will send pdf files of the text so this is a plus.

I really thank Harald a lot for making this so nice and easy for all of us! Thank you Harald!

I look forward to getting the docs ready for ms3 and ask the community to send me ideas or changes to look into.

We all need to work together!

Hi,

Knowledgebase Developments:

A new kb article has been written about incorporating php with mouseover graphics to hold the session id…enjoy!
Add Mouse Over Graphic Links with Session ID

There are some touchups to the article “Add php Links to Graphics with Session ID” on that same page.

Live Shops Developments:

Work is continuing on revamping the live shop listings putting them into categories/subcategories according to the site’s main description or the majority of products in one category on each site.

When a site is submitted to be a live shop the description should incorporate the “main” item that is sold. This really helps us to categorize each site and put in the appropriate category/subcategory.

The site categories are being broken down to 3 levels so in the future someone will be able to search for a site in the “live shops” section of osCommerce. This will really be nice to specifically go to a category/subcategory and find sites of that listing in the future.

As always we appreciate the osCommerce community!

Hi,

The docs for the Tips and Tricks section of the knowledgebase are just about complete for the ms3 version with the addition of a few more articles today. These all will be tested in the upcoming days as to accuracy to use for the milestone 3 release. Any that are not compatible will be turned off until they are updated.

A few new articles were added today to the Catalog Area/Boxes area:
http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/Catalog_Area/Boxes

and to the Catalog Area/ Design and Layout sections:
http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/osCommerce/Catalog_Area/Design_and_Layout

The new pdf download for the ms2.2 is available online:
http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions/downloads

This is a brushed up version of all the wiki docs so is complete. This was the first documentation available for the osCommerce store so this is close to my heart. A lot of information was gathered from the community on how to do and change code in the osCommerce store to give everyone a starting place to learn more about osCommerce.

We are very excited about the ms2.3 upcoming release! The code has changed and a much nicer look in the admin area plus better code throughout the catalog store and more features than ever before.

Thank you osCommerce community for hanging in there with us!

The knowledgebase is really moving along thanks in a great part to Scott typing his little fingers to the bone! He’s a blessing!

My house has been in a mess for a couple of months due to remodeling and once those doors were painted I was ready to get to work on the ms3 docs for the knowledgebase.

I think we have finished the installation and admin sections with new screenshots (as low as they could go at 600 width), updates to the articles that were already there for the ms3 version of osCommerce, and writing new articles.

The installation and admin sections are designed to show you a particular page section with a screenshot and an explanation of the links available on that page to make it easier for a person totally new to osCommerce to be able to install osCommerce and administer their store administration area. It does take a little studying of the articles but a “picture is worth a thousand words” as they say.

Some new ideas have recently come up to add a new “guide section” in the knowledgebase that will have articles based on how to setup the shop catalog so we look forward to the challenge of this section.

I hope the osCommerce community will visit the knowledgebase more often and give us feedback! We always appreciate it!

Sincerely,
Melinda
